Löffingen, the historic market town above the Wutach gorge

The open, hilly landscape of the Baar and the Upper Black Forest merge here. Its convenient location makes Löffingen the perfect starting point for excursions in the region. Löffingen and its six districts turn out to be a true hiking paradise of the Black Forest! In the nearby Wutach nature reserve you can delve into the history of the earth and geologists regularly go into raptures here. So do botanists, who discover 1200 of the 2500 plant species found in Central Europe here. 500 butterfly species flutter through the valley of the wild Ach. Explore the unspoilt wild river valley of the Wutach gorge with its side gorges and discover fascinating views with splashing waterfalls and towering rocks in unspoilt nature.

Celebrate festivals, you can do that in Löffingen: Witches, ghosts and devils reign here at carnival time. Every two years the Städtlefest is a highlight on the calendar of events. Löffingen also offers several heated outdoor swimming pools, an indoor swimming pool with sauna, tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, playgrounds, cross-country trails, bowling alleys, a glider airfield and a leisure park with animal enclosure. Cyclists, Nordic walkers, hikers and motorcyclists will also find plenty of space and opportunities to pursue their passions here. So many activities whet the appetite: in rustic inns, family guesthouses, hotels, holiday flats and farm holidays, the Löffingen people prove their much-vaunted hospitality.
